Child Protection
Partners in Advocacy is committed to ensuring that all children and young people that we support are kept safe from all kinds of abuse, including neglect. Our work is strictly confidential between those we support and our Advocacy Workers. We will only break this confidence where we have legitimate concerns about the safety and wellbeing of a child. This could be something that a child or other person tells us, or that we witness in the course of our work.
Our work is underpinned by Scottish Government’s National Child Protection guidance: national-guidance-child-protection-scotland-2021-updated-2023.pdf (www.gov.scot). Partners in Advocacy has a duty to report all child protection concerns to the relevant Social Services department. If you are concerned about a child, please see click here Report child abuse to a local council – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
If you are a child and you are worried about your safety, call the Police on 101 or 999 in an emergency. You can also talk to someone in confidence at Childline on 0800 1111 or visit Childline | Childline
Adult Protection
Partners in Advocacy is committed to ensuring that all adults we support are kept safe from abuse. Our work is strictly confidential between those we support and our Advocacy Workers. We will only break this confidence where we have legitimate concerns about the safety and wellbeing of an adult. This could be something that an adult or other person tells us, or that we witness in the course of our work.
The Adult Support and Protection Act 2007 gives greater protection to adults at risk of harm or neglect.
The Act defines adults (16 and over) as being at risk of harm if they are:

- who are at risk of harm
- more vulnerable to being harmed because of a disability, mental health condition, illness or physical or mental infirmity
Harm can be defined as:
- Physical abuse
- Psychological abuse
- Financial abuse
- Sexual abuse
