My Rights My Say

My Rights, My Say advocates can help you share your views with your school to get the support you need. We can help you work out what you want to say, attend meetings with you and if you don’t feel able to speak yourself, we’ll speak up on your behalf.

We can make sure that your rights are upheld and that your views and wishes are fully listened to when decisions are being made. We can also support you if you decide to appeal against a decision the school or education authority has made.

An advocacy worker can help you if you are between 12-15 years of age and want to use your rights to have a say or be involved in decisions about your own education. This is free for all young people aged 12-15 who need support in school.

You may want help to tell your school you are:

– struggling with schoolwork
– not feeling included in school life
– being bullied
– missing school
– being excluded or sent home
– not feeling like you have enough of a say in the type of support you get
– not feeling you can be in school
– a young carer or care experienced.

For young people or people interested please click here to hear young people explain about your right to be included in decisions about your support at school. The video will talk about your rights and how advocacy can support you to share your views and have your rights upheld.

For anyone who wants to know more about an advocacy journey or if you are currently waiting to work with one of our advocacy team, click here to a video on how we work with young people from advocacy workers themselves.
